Meet the Therapist Behind Blue Mist: Julissa Corona, LCSW
I’m Julissa - I’m your therapist & Founder of Blue Mist Psychotherapy.
My story began in a small community in Panama, where I was born and raised. As a teenager, I moved to the United States, beginning a new chapter that taught me how to navigate a different country, culture, and way of life.
Over time, that journey continued to shape me as I learned to adapt through constant change, including life as a military spouse.
Today, these experiences ground me in the spaces between cultures, identities, and life transitions. They have helped me embrace duality, remain open to change, and understand the resilience it takes to keep becoming.
After my husband retired from active duty, another chapter began: the creation of Blue Mist Psychotherapy, a space dedicated to meaningful healing, growth, and transformation.
My Journey to Become a Therapist
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina & Alaska. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Methodist University in 2014 & a Master of Social Work from The University of Texas at El Paso in 2018.
I’m an EMDRIA Certified Therapist™. I’m trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, am currently working toward certification, and am trained in Natural Processing (somatic).
I previously worked as a hairstylist, where I realized I wanted to pursue a career in mental health. I entered the mental health field immediately after earning my bachelor’s degree in 2014.
Earlier in my career in the mental health field, I worked with clients suffering from chronic and persistent mental illnesses. I then worked as a therapist in inpatient mental health hospitals and later in outpatient mental health agencies, primarily serving military, veterans, and their family members.
Outside the Therapy Room
I enjoy exploring this wonderful world with my family. I am married to an Army Veteran, and we have three lovely children and our furry “golden (Retriever) child.”
I love connecting with people, having deep conversations, learning from others, and laughing out loud.
I love spending time outdoors, whether it's in the mountains or at the beach, biking, hiking, off-roading, or just relaxing outside.
I am intentional about taking care of myself so I can better support others.
My Clinical Approach
I utilize somatically-based process-oriented therapy to support trauma recovery.
My primary modalities include:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR),
Natural Processing (somatic), and
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT).
We target the roots of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and disconnected.
